I do not know its actual age or history, but I believe it may be German Pewter. It looks old, may possibly be an antique, though I do not have any documentation to verify its age or history. The flask is in good condition. There is no corrosion or discolorations of any kind on this gorgeous and very unique item. **This piece stands perfectly straight contrary to my poor photographs. DESCRIPTION: I have never used this flask, but it is not functional in its current state. The opening where the powder is loaded appears to be sealed inside at the "bowl" area. It is being sold as is. Perhaps a little handywork will bring this magnificent and quite rare item to life. One one side of the flask, there is an extremely ornate scene of a nude woman with long wavy hair. She looks to be standing at the edge of a river or ocean. There is an arched bridge way off in the background. The otherside of this magnificent powder flask features a head shot of a long haired bearded man. He has a wreath of vines wrapped around his head. There is a black chain attached to 2 hooks on the sidesfor carrying or displaying the flask. The flip is a very ornate and is detailed with an ornate feather style motif.  Just press on the flip to gain access to where the powder would be dispensed. Gunpowder is not included with this auction. The lid is tight fitting. This is an extremely rare find. Sure to please the new owner for a long time to come.
