Description
VERY RARE Casas Grandes Effigy Olla ca. 1100 ADEx-Private CollectionWe have been fortunate over the last 18 months to have acquired quite a few collector's grade and museum grade examples of Pre-Columbian Casas Grandes pottery out of a well-established private New Mexico collection. This is the first time many of these ollas have become available on the market for several decades. Up for auction is one such item, a very rare Pre-Columbian early polychrome effigy olla from Casas Grandes and dating to ca. 1100 AD. This olla is large, measuring an impressive 7 3/4 inches (19.7 cm) in height and 5 5/8 inches (14.3 cm) in diameter. The face, which faces outwards from the front of the olla, is finished in burnished red and displays the classic stylized expression so distinct to the Casas Grandes culture. Indisputably authentic dendrites on the vessel's posterior allow even amateur authenticators to establish its authenticity. While repaired, it has not been restored, and as evidenced from the photographs, this fine example of Pre-Columbioan pottery displays very well, and would make an excellent addition to any private or curatorial collection of Pre-Columbian or Native American pottery. Take advantage by buying this now before we relaunch our online gallery, in which this will be priced at over twice what we are pricing it at for our ebay customers, at the below wholesale, one-time reduced price of only $359.Please see our other auctions for more rare and affordable Native American, Pre-Columbian, African, and South Asian antiques and antiquities. As are all our Pre-Columbian, Native American, and tribal antiques and artifacts, this item is guaranteed authentic. The winning bidder will have 30 days from the close of auction to arrange inspection by a qualified representative from a State (recognized) museum or by a known and agreed-upon authenticator. Should such an individual deem this piece to be non-authentic during the 30 day window and provide documentation stating as such, we will accept the item back for a full refund minus shipping and handling costs, provided it is returned via insured shipping and in the exact same condition in which it was originally shipped, and that the buyer first coordinate the return by contacting the seller and supplying substantiating documentation from the aforementioned qualified representative. Otherwise, all sales are FINAL, and items will only be accepted for return if the buyer can substantiate it was grossly misrepresented in the listing. The insurance quote is an estimate only based on the Buy It Now price, otherwise the actual cost of insurance will be based on the final sales price and will be included on the invoice submitted to the buyer at the end of the auction. International bidders are welcomed, but PLEASE contact the seller first for a shipping quote! Good luck bidders! Your browser does not support JavaScript.
