Selmer (Paris). It’s a Bb cornet, Selmer’s “long model”, made in France about 1960. The bell is stamped: “Henri / SELMER / Paris” (inside Selmer logo) and “Selmer / made in France / R”. Serial number on the second valve casing is 2669. Valve casings are stamped “13 / 14 / 15”. The bright silver finish is 99% original, the plating shows some minor wear on the bell crook. The instrument shows evidence of having had a few (not many...) dings balled out and burnished. There are now no dents to the instrument. The instrument has original first slide trigger and third slide ring. Pistons are nickel-plated and are absolutely perfect. We believe the valves have recently been rebuilt in France. Bore size (measured at the second slide) is .470 inches (11.94 mm). Bell diameter is 4.75 inches (120 mm). Case is solid, made in America. No mouthpiece with this one, though. Selmer-Paris still produces brasses, but only saxophones and trumpets. Cornets are no longer listed in their catalog. Selmer-Paris DID still list a model 61 pro-model cornet in their 1975 catalog. Recommended for Dixieland or modern jazz playing or for anybody who wants a professional cornet for a reasonable price. We often have similar instruments in our inventory. For two full years, we will repair or replace, whichever in our estimation is the more advisable, pads, corks, springs or other parts required, at no charge to the customer. The customer is responsible for shipping and insurance charges. Cases and plating finishes are not covered by our service warranty but are sometimes covered by factory guarantees.” Wichita Band’s service warranty does cover dents and dings to your instrument. If your instrument sustains damage to the body, end bow, neck, slides or bell, we’ll burnish out the dents and make it look “like new” again. The cost you is absolutely nothing except for shipping and insurance charges. Wichita Band Instrument Company maintains a repair department capable of restoration work of the highest quality. Even though repairs are essentially “free” for the first two years, after that period has expired, we remain at your service to maintain and repair your musical equipment forever. In the event that a customer requires service under factory guarantees or Wichita Band’s service warranty, the item must be returned to us and not directly to the manufacturer. Anything we sell can be sent to you for a short approval period without obligation. We collect NO SALES TAX, unless you’re lucky enough to live in Kansas.
