Description
This lug handled blackware vessel is Classic Mayan, dating from 300-600 AD. The vessel has two incised panels each of which depicts a serpent, the water sign. There are also incised symbols on both bowl handles. The bowl has some chipped areas on its top edge. However, the bowl does not appear to have any cracks or to have been repaired. It is in excellent condition for its age. The bowl measures approximately 5 3/4 inches in height, and 7 inches from handle edge to handle edge. The bowl has slab tripod legs. If you purchase this bowl, shipping and insurance are free! This bowl is one of a pair. The other bowl depicts the headdress of Tlaloc, the rain god, and is being offered in my store. If you purchase both bowls, a cost reduction of $100 for the two will be given. Shipping and insurance are free. Guarantee: I guarantee this bowl is ancient as described. You have 10 days after receipt of the bowl to validate its authenticity. If you do not feel the bowl is ancient as described, and you can give adequate reasons for your concerns, you may return the bowl to me (paying shipping and insurance costs) and I will refund your purchase price. While I am sure of the quality of the bowl, I wouldn't want you to be unhappy with your purchase. Visit my store to see other Pre-Columbian artifacts for sale.
