Ornate GERMAN PEWTER Decanter & 4 Cups Artina WeinleseThis auction is for an ornate Pewter Decanter & 4 Cups by Artina, from the series "Weinlese". The decanter and each cup has 4 panels that portray scenes for wine production, from the picking of the grapes to the tasting of the finished product. The detail is incredibly beautiful. In the 1st. scene are grape vines with clusters of grapes hanging from them. Pickers are gathering the grapes. In the 2nd. scene the grapes are being poured into barrels that have been placed on a donkey. The next scene shows the grapes in a large vat, being stomped on by 2 men, while another man supervises. The juice from the fruit is flowing from a spigot into a smaller barrel. The last scene is set in a wine cellar, where the wine is being enjoyed by 3 men. Wine barrels are stacked against a wall. The texture of the floor, table and the mens clothing can easily be seen. The lower stem of each cup is adorned with a garland of grapes and grape leaves. The cups are comfortable to hold. The decanter is approx. 7-1/2" tall, including the stopper. It's base is approx. 4-9/16". Each cup is approx. 2-1/4" tall. The opening is approx. 1-1/2" and the base is 1-5/16". The decanter weighs 1 pound, 1.5 ounces. Each cup weighs 2.2 ounces. The bottoms of the decanter and cups are marked "95% Artina Zinn" and have the figure of a crowned swan. The decanter and cups are in good condition. The only blemish is a few "flea bites" on the rim of the cups.
