It measures 23 inches high and 14 inches across and holds a black and white photographic portrait of a distinguished looking gentleman, long since passed from this great vale of tears.  The man in the picture is James Algie who was a businessman in the City of Guelph, Ontario in the 19th C. His grandchildren had no heirs and gave this portrait to my great aunt who gave it to me. Worth noting is that the pewter is very slightly embellished with tiny bits of colored enamel.
