Description
Up for bid is a John F. Stratton NY "Bell up" Alto Horn. Based on my research this is a circa 1860 - 1870 horn manufactured in New York and may have been used for military Bands. The horn is in need of resoration to be playable, but a really nice peice for any collector. As you can see in the pictures the bottom section of the horn has been indented considerably. It seems to have all of its parts although I'm no expert on horns. It stands 30" high. The valves work smoothly, there is one section of the smaller parts of the horn that needs to be re-attached permantly. Good Luck Bidding and if anyone has anymore info on this I would love to have it. Thanks Update 07-14: I have received an e-mail from another ebayer telling me this is a Bb Baritone and the valves date to 1880 or later. I am no expert on these so I dont know exactly what the actual date of this peice is. I was basing my listing on simliar Stratton horns I have seen on some websites. I am always open to any more info and will post it as I get it. I have now received emails calling it a Cornet, a Baritone, an Alto, a Tuba, and a Euphorium.... Take your pick, I'll drop the price to $200.00 for one more week.
