Description
Fantastic,Authentic Persian/ Greek Marble ancient Bust 550 B.C. Is to be traced to the Persian occupation of that Area during the various Cyrus (today island of Cyprus) dynasties. Appears to be Cyrus the Great, founder of the Persian Empire under the Achamenid dynasty. Beyond his nation, Cyrus left a lasting legacy on Jewish religion(through his Edict of Restoration), human rights, politics, and military strategy, as well as on both Eastern and Estern civilization. Persian rule in Lycia came to an end when the region fell to the Macedonian king Alexander the Great in 333 B.C. In spite of the moderate policies the Persians pursued, the Lycians must have been unhappy under their rule since they opened the gates to Alexander without offering him any resistance. The bearded Bust of what appears to Cyrus has Asiatic facial lines which suggest that to be of Achamenid origin(near the Caspian Sea), also known as possibly Bactarian. Dimensions: being ca. 10 cm high and 9.5 cm width, heavy Encrustations as can be seen in the Images. Cuprit marks (Crystallisation) are traceable showing its Age. The Item comes with an uncondional guarantee and of course a COA. Belonged to an old European Collection.
