Description
Untitled Document Celtic Gold Item Money Ring (400BC) Herakles Knot Hammered from a Single Gold Ingot (1/4 Stater Weight) R! Material: Gold Condition: Intact Culture: Celtic / La-Tene? Period: 4th-3rd Century BC Weight: 1.8gm (1/4 Stater weight!) Inner Diameter: 17.5mm / 0.69 Inches Diameter 21.4mm / 0.84 Inches At your attention a beautifull pure gold ring featuring "Herakles' Knot" design. The ring was masterfully hammered from a single gold ingot into a long wire, thicker in its middle part and thin in its ending parts. The wire was laterbent and knotted with the typical for this period herakles knot. With the weight of a 1/4 gold stater and the equal gold purity, this item was not only jewllery and a status symbol, but also a favored exchange item among celtic tribes, replacing other equivalent gold currency. Celtic, 4th-3rd Century BC. Very rare and completely intact! Celtic coins were produced from the end of the fourth century BC until the late first century BC across western and central Europe. After the 4th Century BC the Celtic world made use of different Greek and later Roman prototypes for their coinages. Before that period, they used mostly exchange items such as rings and everyday objects hammered in gold, silver and bronze. Celtic Ringmoney occurs in various forms across most of the Celtic regions of North Western Europe. They occur in gold plated and solid gold versions and with either plain or twisted surfaces. All items listed are guaranteed to be authentic ancient originals and as described. No returns without cogent reason. All returns must be pre-authorized. Accepted payments: PayPal, European Wire Transfer, Reg. Letter.
