This fine example of French period artisanship had been painted over in gray. Much of the original gold gilting can be seen underneath. A close up of the corner reveals the frame is indeed carved wood, not gesso other lesser materials (see photo). Capture this rare true genuine period work of art at a great value. Circa 1880s.
