Circa 1900 H: 20 in / 51 cm W: 11 in / 28 cm A little dusty but Works FlawlesslyThere is an interesting story behind this item.This Item was purchase by me over 30 years ago from the family of a deceased Maid that worked for Mayor Cermak, of Chicago, until his Assassination in 1933.  I was told, that after the Mayors funeral, the staff was allowed to take One item from the home as a remembrance.  This was that item taken by that Maid.  I can not substantiate this, but I had No reason to doubt the person I purchased it from.(The husband of the deceased Maid).I had it on display and didn't think much of it until I was browsing through an antique shop in Chicago about 20 years ago, and found it's twin badly damaged sitting out of reach behind a counter.  When I asked to see it , I saw a tag of $200 beside it.  I thought that Mine had no Value only to be told by the Shop Keeper that the $200 tag was for the table the cage was sitting on.  The Cage was $5000.00 NO NEGOTIATIONS. That was 20+ years ago.  Wow, I guess I had something.  Well now it is time for a new home.  I have tried to research it's value and the closest one is available in England for 5400 Pounds. That is about $8400 US.
