It is a solid bronze hand hammered vessel It was definitely hung (note the three hooks on the sides), and we believe it was either a part of a scale, or it may have been hung from the celing to hold an oil lamp Whatever its purpose, it originated from the mid/late Roman Empire. On the location in which it was found were discovered some coins in the time range from SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS to POSTUMUS (included were Caracalla, Geta, Elagabalus, Avrelianus, Probus, Gallienus, Saloninus, and Postumus - probably we missed something, but anyway, this is the time period this piece originated from) Measurements:  Approx. 9.25" diameter x 3" high Condition:VG+/ Excellent overall, nice patina Please e-mail us for additional photos or information that can give you a better idea about this beautiful piece We Will Combine Shipping When Possible For Your Convenience!
