Description
Thank you for viewing my auction. I am now selling over a thousand items which I purchased in the 1950's-80, at the London auctions, Christie's, Sotheby's, and Phillip's (now Bonham's). Much of it is ancient jewelry which was assembled in the Victorian period from elements found in the archeological excavations of that period. They were widely publicized and wearing such jewelry was fashionable for the elite. Because they reassembled and in most cases incomplete, we are selling the individual elements so more collectors can enjoy them. We were inspired to do so by Robert Liu's statement in Collectable Beads, that the average collector will be unable to own a single ancient bead. Each is certified authentic. The Industrial Revolution of the 18th century resulted in a new fashion for clothes and accessories which reached its peak during the French Revolution, about 1795-1815. Men's dress clothes were accented with buckles, buttons, cuff links, chains, hat badges and even sword hilts of highly polished steel set with faceted hard "cut steel" studs. These were made to glitter in the candle light of social functions and swords of that type are still known as "glitter hilts". Up for auction are 20 "cut steel" beads of that period. They are 1.5 mm wide and string to about 1"- just about 1/20 inch each bead. 23B10 (1) Shipping is free Worldwide with the purchase of this item.Payment: Your choice of Paypal, Visa, MasterCard, or U.S. Postal Money Order.
