And now for the details on the auction: Here we have an antique violin or fiddle with bow found in an old barn in the Laurentians, here in Quebec. This item is circa 1910 and I'm not sure if it is hand made or not but I believe it is since the 4 tuning pegs are definately hand carved (replacements?). The scroll work looks also to be hand carved and there is no company name anywhere on this piece. The back is slightly separating from the bottom side rim but there are no chips of wood missing. I was told it just needs regluing. The bow is in good condition. I see no breaks in the wooden shaft. But the gut (?) strings are extremely brittle. Again, there are no markings on the bow either. There is a wonderful old patina to the wood and I am sure it had plenty of use long ago at a family or county fair gatherings. If this violin could talk I can imagine the joyous tales it would tell from a much simpler time. It measures 22.5" long and 8" wide. The bow is 27" long. A truly wonderful piece of history.  Comes from a smoke free home. I also more than gladly combine shipping on multiple auctions to save you money on the shipping. Don't expect it to arrive in 2 days. If you choose the shipping option with insurance I will do everything in my power to find your parcel or get your money back but it takes time.
