I also believe this could possibly have been used in the inside bottom of a large lidded vegetable bowl  to hold cooked vegetables above the liquid when serving at the dinner table? Please review the pictures to judge for yourself what this item was best used for. The owner named this to be by HAVILAND and/or LIMOGES, FRANCE but it is UNMARKED so I do not know for sure.   Pattern Name Unknown. DESCRIPTION: White China with Light Pink to Dark Pink Roses with a hint of Ruby Red in the center of the roses on a Trellis of Vines with Greenery & Leaves. Raised Textural Scroll Pattern Decorates the Edges & Rim.   MARKS - HISTORY: No maker's marks, however, the owner, Mrs. K, said that she believed it to be Haviland or Limoges, France. It was handed down to her by her grandmother.  The family all lived in the Brooklyn, NY, area until Mrs. K & her husband moved to the Southwest for health reasons in the 1980's.  She has downsized and moved into an assisted living facility and is hoping that another collector will enjoy this piece as much as she & her family did for years.   ANTIQUE-VINTAGE: Probably from the late 1800's or early 1900's, but I am not an antique or china expert.  Many people have now chosen to collect, display & enjoy these antique works of china art! Popular collector's items of an era gone by!   SIZE / DIMENSIONS: TOP:  Approx. 6" diameter overall edge to edge including the raised lip.  Inside the lip diameter 5". UNDERSIDE: Has two "rims" that would either touch the table if used as a tea trivet or hot plate, or that would sit in the inside grooves if meant to fit into a vegetable serving bowl.  Outside rim about 1/8" wide at the top, and 5 1/4" diameter from the outside of rim to rim.  Inside circular rim also about 1/8" wide at the top and 2 1/4 " wide from the outside rim to rim.  HEIGHT:  Approximately 1/2" tall when sitting on a flat surface.   CONDITION: Nice but Slightly Imperfect Antique Condition  as might be expected of a china item of it's age & travels!  TOP:  Pattern of varigated pink roses & greenery shows some wear.  Very slight wear of the glaze of the raised textural design of the china around the rim.  Glaze is nice & shiney with an occasional very minor worn spot and very minor scratches & one small black speck under the glaze, just as it came from the factory.  See picture.  Top has no cracks, crazing, chips or stains. UNDERSIDE:  Several chips around the outside/underneath rim that are not visible from the top when sitting on a flat surface.  Otherwise nice.  No cracks, nicks, crazing or stains.
