Impressed on one side is Ci 5 1/2, it has 10 holes and is tuned exactly to a diatonic scale.An Ocarina is a small, simple wind instrument shaped like a potato, and was sold by Sears as a "Sweet Potato". It is usually made out of terracotta, a European pottery material. If it is made from clay, it must be tuned when the clay is still wet. The Ocarina has finger holes and a mouth piece and come in all different sizes, the larger ones having a mellow, hollow tone. In the gold oval it is marked H. Fiehn Vienna Made in Austria. In the double gold circles, I can only read the word Sydney Exhibition. Looks very much the same as another sold on eBay recently described as from a 1890s exhibition. Nice condition.
