Ancient Holy Land Early Bronze Age Amphoriskos Early Bronze Age Holy Land PotteryPalestine, Southern CultureCa. 2500 BCThis elegant rare amphoriskos features a squat round body and a flared rim.  At the shoulder are two small pierced lug handles.  The warm buff pottery vessel is decorated in the dominant style of the pottery of southern Palestine, the "line group".  This painted decoration is characterized by straight diagonal lines creating a net-painted pattern.  Here, the net design is divided into four framed vertical panels with a wide ring around neck and inside of rim also in red; all decoration on a painted white creme slip painted base color over the buff-orange pottery.Warm Buff Pottery with creme slip and Red Net-Painting..Beautiful Condition--only minor wear to rim; strong pigments.Height: 4-1/8 in.
