This magnificent piece comes from Damascus, Syria that was ruled by the Ottomans for over 400 years. Featured is an expertly hand crafted solid silver wedding headdress. It has 23 out of 24 original Ottoman period coins, circa 1890-1906. This type of multi-link stranded head jewelry stems back to the ancient Bedouin tribes. During the Ottoman occupation the headdress became more exclusive to the Islamic wedding ceremony and worn by the bride.
