Material: Bronze w. outstanding red and green patina Condition: Extremely fine Size: 145x50x56 mm - 5,7x2x2,2 inches Est. $800-1000 Description: Exceptional and beautyful decorated bronze axe or adze, from the Talish/Amlash region, near the South Caspian Sea. The adze can be dated to the 2nd. millenium B.C. The adze was part of the Christies sale of the Guttman collection of Arms & Armory. The Guttman collection is one of the largest and most important collection ever formed! The adze measure 145x50x56 mm - 5,7x2x2,2 inches. It is very compact, heavy and impressive! The adze is constructed with a horisontical and a vertical blade and a medium long socket. The entire is designed as a birds head with decorated eyes on the side just above the socket. Condition: Extremely fine with an outstanding green and red patina. All Guttmans pieces are above average of what you see on the ancient weapons market, as is this axe! Est. $800-1000.
